With nature Eternal Promise
——Jiang Caikun and his gouache
Text/Cloud Broom
Jiang Caikun, who has passed his destiny, has been obsessed with painting since he was a child He has been obsessed with painting for more than 40 years, and now he has finally made some achievements. His works have participated in various provincial, municipal and national international art exhibitions for many times. In July 2010, his gouache landscape painting collection “Forever Promise” was published by Tianjin People’s Fine Arts Publishing House. Tsinghua University Fine Arts Du Dakai, a professor of the college and a famous painter, once gave him such an evaluation-Cai Kun’s gouache painting collection is called “Forever Promise”, and the people he meets are natural, so the contract is “talk to the mountains, talk to the flowing water”, which is enviable .
The “dialogue” and “heart-to-heart” with Caikun are covered with gouache paintings with rich colors, deep green and fiery red, showing the sincerity and sincerity of this agreement. This agreement has lasted for many years In 2009, Cai Kun came to his destiny. How much do you expect from the “dialogue” and “heart-to-heart” with mountains and rivers? Cai Kun will respond in the future.
Jiang Kun’s first contact with gouache landscape painting was inspired by 10 Influenced by Yu Qingyuan, an art teacher of Yibin Normal School when he was young. Teacher Yu has no teachers and no schools. His teachers are the printed materials of his life. He likes Soviet realistic landscape paintings, such as Levitan, Hushkin, Sa Those of Vlasov and Kuinde also like French landscape paintings, such as Corot. He also likes to collect the works of some domestic watercolor painters. Mr. Yu Qingyuan has formed his own set of watercolors in his teaching practice and research , Gouache sketching techniques. There, Jiang Caikun learned the names of Chechakov, Repin, Cézanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh and other world masters, and gradually fell in love with art, and began to study painting seriously under the guidance of his teacher. When he was 12 years old, Yibin City held a regional children’s painting exhibition. His painting “I Love Science” won the first prize in the exhibition.
In 1982, Jiang Caikun, who was in full bloom, brought his pair of Yearning for art and dreams for the future, I was admitted to the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. It was the cultural renaissance period of contemporary China, and SichuanThe heyday of oil painting in the Academy of Fine Arts. Students of the 77th and 78th grades of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Cheng, He Duoling, and Wang Chuan created a batch of “scar art” and “local art” works, which aroused great repercussions in the national art circle.
The dyeing and weaving art major of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts is also well-known throughout the country. Mr. Li Youxing was once hailed as the master of oriental color by the outside world, and he was in the same school as Pang Xunqin, , Shen and others. His peaches and plums are all over the world. Huang Wei and Hong Lei used to be his teachers. They inherited Mr. Li’s painting method and formed their own style. Mr. Li’s greater contribution to Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts is his gouache teaching system, which is the most scientific in Chinese art education. Mr. Li Youxing’s gouache still life sketches, flower sketches, and landscape sketches are accurate in brushwork and perfect in color matching research. They truly combine the spirit of Chinese ink painting with the scientific research methods of Western painting.
Talking about the days in Chuanmei, Jiang Caikun was full of emotions: I remember that we went to Shanghai and Qingdao for internships. Every time we went to a unit, as long as we heard that we were majoring in dyeing and weaving at the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, they all rushed to let us go work there. At that time, I was really proud of being a student of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts.
During the four years at Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Jiang Caikun basically practiced flower sketching, and whenever he had a chance, he would paint landscapes and sketches. He was extremely happy. The representative works of that period, “I Love Qingdao” and “The Bells of the Church”, were drawn while sketching in Qingdao. I still remember that in mid-June 1985, Jiang Caikun went to Qingdao and Shanghai for an internship with his juniors and sketched in Qingdao. At that time, Qingdao was really refreshing, with stone walls and red tiles. Gothic architecture that can only be seen in movies can be seen everywhere. Under the sunlight, the ancient trees in front of the house form a faint contrast with the dark red tiled houses, and the colors are extremely beautiful. Sunny Under the sky and blue sea, you can see all kinds of red and green. Jiang Caikun couldn’t believe his eyes. Under the sun’s rays, the earth is covered with clouds and the sun shines directly. Simply perfect. When he came to the church, its color and structure gave Jiang Caikun an urge to paint. The red on the roof, the khaki on the walls and the dark green behind the house form an intriguing contrast. With the inlay of hot gray stones, the color becomes more charming and mysterious. Jiang Kun was very excited, picked up the brush, and wrote down this wonderful time with brilliant colors.
After four years of studying gouache painting in the Dyeing and Weaving Art Department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Jiang Caikun has mastered the technical level of gouache painting and is familiar with painting scenes with real objects. Years of study, whether it is still life, flowers, or landscape sketches, have reached the level required by the academics and laid a solid foundation for future gouache research.
In 1986, he went to Shenzhen with the dream of revitalizing arts and crafts. At first, he started a business with a group of people who had the same dream. Unexpectedly, several young souls were defeated by the storm of the mall, and the company he cooperated with quickly died.
The dream of starting a business was shattered, and Jiang Caikun, a slightly sober painter, was at peace again. Like many of his partners, Jiang Caikun opened the sealed painting box and took it againPicked up the paintbrush.
There is a good saying: “From the moment you were born, you are destined to go back. The twists and turns in the middle, smoothness, and happiness are all your destiny.” In this way, Jiang Kun experienced life The advent of opportunities and the pain and helplessness of materialistic desires. In the end, it was “99 to 1”, where did it come from, where did it go, and it returned to its original state. It seems that God has left him a unique day, which can only be felt after he returns to a normal life after experiencing ups and downs. Just like Su Dongpo’s famous saying: “Looking back at the bleak place, there is no wind, no rain, no sunshine.” This feeling is not a simple return, but a sublimation, a nirvana, a new beginning. Thinking of this, such a picture appeared in front of Kun’s eyes. After experiencing the baptism of life, he still retains his original temperament, open-minded and calm, neither humble nor overbearing, calmly and gracefully facing the everlasting sky.
Teaching in school was Jiang Caikun’s earliest dream, and it was also a better choice in his life. After entering Sichuan Institute of Science and Technology in 1997, Jiang Caikun stopped dancing for a few years and started dancing again. The basic education in the art department of colleges and universities and the education of going out to sketch provided conditions for Jiang Caikun to study gouache, and also enabled him to fulfill the eternal agreement with nature.
It is a small town in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province, Miyaluo. Throughout the year, the mountain is as clean as it has been washed by water. The air is fresh and exudes a fragrance. In the Mid-Autumn Festival of 1999, Jiang Caikun took his students out to sketch for the first time. The natural colors are so pure that Jiang Caikun was in high spirits and the students were dancing and cheering. Jiang Caikun was so excited that he splashed ink and completed a series of watercolor sketches such as “Miyaluo’s Morning”, “Autumn”, “Home”, and “The Storm Is Coming”.
When I came to Ruoergai, I saw cattle and sheep in the wind. Jiang Caikun and a group of teachers and students walked into the pastoral area. On a blue day, the sky is full of clouds and clouds, and the cattle and sheep at the foot of the mountain are grazing leisurely, chasing and playing. Herdsmen mow grass on the golden slopes. In this case, Dong’s “The Spring of ***” flashed in Jiang Caikun’s mind. How to truly express Ruoergai’s style? Jiang Caikun sat down and studied for a long time. The sky on the plateau is clear and the clouds are very colorful. The golden hillsides are layered with colors under the sunlight, and the red roofs of the season contrast with the olive green lawns. At this moment, a complete picture had formed in Jiang Caikun’s mind.
If we savor the works of the landscape painter Jiang Caikun with a normal heart, it will bring you more inner peace. The “essence”. Because, in fact, painting landscapes is always painting moods, conveying the inner call through the description of the scenery. In times of dizzying and rapid change, people are often stuck in trouble and confused. It is nature that provides people with this kind of quiet reminder and enlightenment, so that your heart can really calm down and interpret the wonderful meaning of nature carefully.
The origin of art comes from two aspects: one is nature, and the other is the inner world of man; the combination of these two aspects leads to the unity of subjectivity and objectivity, and the transformation from object to image; in fact, what the artist is facing is this unchanging and eternal proposition. In this way, we can better appreciate and understand why Cai Kun has an eternal agreement with nature.
In the early spring of 2000, Jiang Caikun took his students to Lijiang and Shigu Town to sketch. Shigu Town is the place where the Red Army passed through during the Long March. In addition to the commemorative sculptures of the Red Army’s Long March, the small town and geographical environment made them interested in painting. Lijiang is beautiful and a peaceful place. Lijiang has intriguing architecture and low-lying terrain. Most are three bedrooms, a kitchen wall, and a patio. They were built by the Naxi people by absorbing the culture of the Central Plains and combining their own national life characteristics. Jiang Caikun wandered in the embrace of nature, thinking wildly, and took pictures of dragons and snakes, one of the bays of the Yangtze River, Sifang Street, and noon.
In the summer of 2002, July, Sunday, the art union organized a sketching activity in Fushun Lion City. Shishi is a small town of salt culture in Zigong. It is an important waterway, the gathering place of ancient salt gangs, and one of the important salt wharves in Yandu. There are many temples, and the stone and wood carvings on the ancient buildings are quite wonderful. There are several courtyards in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, century-old trees can be seen everywhere, and the small winding ditch next to the town is crystal clear, and there are a lot of fish swimming in it. Along the river, the bamboo forest is dense and there are many kinds of bamboo. In summer, cicadas sing everywhere, the river wind blows, and bamboos tens of meters high make “creak” and “creak” sounds, which are very pleasant and poetic. A series of watercolor works such as “The Sound of Green Bamboo” were completed by Cai Kun.
Siguniang Mountain, located at the junction of Xiaojin County and Wenchuan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, is the higher peak of Qionglai Mountain on the eastern edge of the Hengduan Mountains. The local government regards Siguniang as a sacred mountain. There is Rilong Town at the foot of Mount Siguniang, about 4,000 meters above sea level. By chance, Cai Kun and his student Guo Ping came here to sketch.
Longzhen is a small town with only a few dozen families. Cai Kun took his students to visit several collectors living under the snowy autumn mountains. They saw buildings with totem symbols, flying flags, fruits hanging on the roof, and cattle eating leisurely in front of the cattle pen. The teachers and students of the collector Caikun feel abundance, happiness and auspiciousness, full of mystery. It’s really a beautiful picture.
Facing the ready-made beauty presented by nature, at this moment, the teachers and students of Caikun can only pour out their own passions on the screen with pens in the generate process. feel.
In the county town at the junction of Yunnan and Sichuan, the teachers and students of Caikun went out to sketch and passed by this place many times. Every time they pass by, this beautiful view will stay firmly in their memory. At the end of 2005, after a class break, Cai Kun took his student Jin Lan to the scenic spots he saw on the train by train.
Under the steep cliffs on both sides, there is a rushing Qingshui River. On the left side of the river, there are some big houses, while on the right side, there are some old houses and bunkers with white walls and gray tiles. On the top of the river, between the buildings on both sides of the river, a rope bridge swinging from side to side was erected. It’s a more beautiful scene than seen in the movies. Sudden,Cai Kun and Jin Lan, a student, opened the painting box and started to draw without saying anything. When they started to paint, their hands were trembling, and they completed the watercolor “Chain Bridge” in one go.
In order to fulfill this promise, after more than 20 years of cold and heat, I went to Qingdao, Shandong. Go to Aba, Yibin, Jiang’an, Chishui, Daocheng, Xuyong, Liujiang, Shishi in Sichuan; Lijiang, Zhongdian, Lugu Lake, Xishuangbanna in Yunnan; Hequ in Shanxi; Helan Mountain in Ningxia. All over the world, it’s hard to face everything, even though it was agreed that this promise will last forever. Even if there were “talks” and “heart-to-heart talks”, he still made appointments again and again. Even if there are thousands of promises, mountains and waters will not refuse and keep silent. How wise is Cai Kun’s agreement.
In 2006, Jiang Caikun went to Beijing Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts as a visiting scholar for a year, and asked questions about what art is, how his own art is, and how to choose.
I had the opportunity to study with the famous painters Mr. Du Dakai and Mr. Lin Lecheng at the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University. I was fortunate to be their student and friend, which benefited Jiang Caikun a lot in art and education. In addition, Beijing’s unique online environment of Yiyouyou resources allows Jiang Caikun to immerse himself in it, as solid as gold. I gained a lot by going out to sketch with Mr. Du Dakai.
Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, the most famous school in China, is also a place where art masters emerge in endlessly. Fortunately, Jiang Caikun visited the exhibition of works by five masters of Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts and participated in their seminars when he walked into the campus of Tsinghua University. The simplicity, kindness, and sunshine of the masters are admirable, and their dedication and persistence to art make us feel ashamed. Among these five masters, whether it is Wu Guanzhong, Zhang Ding, Pang Xunqin, Zhu Danian, or Yuan Yunfu, their art is like famous mountains, each with its own characteristics and styles.
The learning form of visiting scholars is free, extensive and in-depth. There are many ideas and academic issues that can be discussed and studied with peers. Through discussion, we will find a better entry point. During his studies, Jiang Caikun mainly studied landscape painting, human body ink painting, mural painting and other courses. The creation of murals was guided by Mr. Ji, the head of the painting department. Jiang Caikun benefited a lot from his keen sense of color. Landscape painting and figure painting are directed by Mr. Du, who is humble. His virtue and self-cultivation are well-known in the art world, and his teacher’s morality is admired by everyone.
During the one-year study in Beijing, Jiang Caikun not only completed the required courses, but also watched exhibitions, participated in seminars, took notes, and wrote down his experience when he was free. “Reading thousands of books and traveling thousands of miles”, Jiang Caikun’s one-year study at the Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts allowed him to obtain the most precious things in life-knowing himself, knowing art, and consciously experienced a negation and a struggle in art. What makes him unforgettable is that he went out to sketch with the sketch team led by Du Dakai, and went to Shaanxi and Ningxia to sketch. Although the time was only half a month, Jiang Caikun felt deeply and gained a lot in this short half month. a lot. The sketching team led by Du Dakai set off from Beijing to Yinchuan, Ningxia, and passed through three provinces from east to west. Mountains and Rivers of Three ReflectionsThe heart of Jiang Caikun is rippling, and the local culture and customs have left us with a deep nostalgia. Students learn from each other and learn from each other. Teacher Du’s incisive exposition on art inspired Jiang Caikun a lot.
Hequ, Shanxi is located on the Loess Plateau, bordering Inner Mongolia in the north and Shaanxi in the west, and has the common characteristics of the Loess Plateau in terms of terrain. Walking into the meandering stream, Jiang Caikun didn’t feel much about the plateau at first. Walking into the ditch, what presented to him was another scene, bare mountain ridges, undulating rhythm. At the foot of the mountain, various shrubs, mainly yellow, are swaying in front of your eyes under the breeze; the caves in the mountain stream are patchwork. It is integrated with the mountain shape, jujube trees, and shrubs, as if no one can form a perfect picture without them. No wonder there are groups of painters flocking here in the mountains. Jiang Kun was so excited that he generously presented his painting.
Helan Mountain is majestic, it nourishes the Hemudu culture, and has become a historical witness of the rise and fall of the Xixia Dynasty.
When you come to the foot of Helan Mountain, the sunset glow in late autumn makes the corner of the mountain red. That kind of red can only be enjoyed by hardworking people, and it is also a gift for painters. In Helan Mountain, Jiang Caikun saw that due to the movement of the earth’s crust, the shapes of the mountains changed in many ways, and the shape, color and rhythm shocked his soul. The weather in autumn is very cold, and the temperature inside the mountain is more than ten degrees lower than that outside the mountain. In the afternoon, when the sun sets in the mountains, tourists rush out, but the obsessed painter is dressed in light clothes, his teeth are chattering, and he is obsessed with the landscape in the picture. The momentum of the mountain conquered everyone, and everyone conquered the cold.
The desolate and heavy loess soil nourished the splendid river meander culture, and the song “Going to the West Gate” became popular all over the country. When Jiang Caikun came to the ditch and looked at the source pouring down from the mountain and the shrubs growing by the stream, it was so intriguing, the beautiful sentences and special singing of the Errentai echoed in his ears. It is true that one side of water and soil nurtures the other.
The painters who came out together have different styles of depicting the Yellow Earth. However, Jiang Caikun has a soft spot for Du Dakai’s loess ink paintings. Although his ink paintings are composed of monochrome lines and surfaces, they are not pure descriptions of objects, but look like yellow earth at first glance. Those curved lines, those trembling straight lines, those irregular surfaces and points are the generalization and refinement of the spirit of the yellow land. Between the shape and color of the picture, the teacher’s deep understanding of the region runs through. Teacher Du said: “When we sketch from life, we are actually doing secondary creation. When we are painting, we must figure out what the spiritual direction of the depicted object is, and whether it reflects objective things in essence; the painter’s second The important thing is language. Don’t repeat others. Repeating others is the second category, let alone repeating yourself. Repeating yourself is worthless.” The watercolor “Love in the Loess” was completed by Cai Kun.
This painting does not stick to the gains and losses of whether the shape and color are close to the object. What is more considered is what shape and color block to use to reflect the object that the artist understands in his mind. “Other mountains are not my mountains, but the mountains in my heart are mine.”
The Buddha Cave was built on the cliff of the Yellow River in the northeast of Hequ City. The Yellow River under the cliff is surging, the statues of Sakyamuni and Guanyin Bodhisattva enshrined in the temple are peaceful and quiet. There are many good men and women who come here all the year round to pray to God and worship Buddha. After visiting the Mifo Cave, the brick carvings on the temple wall attracted Jiang Caikun, whose shape and color conveyed a sense of simplicity and profoundness. Mifodong asked Caikun to record this scene with a brush.
On the loess slope, apart from dark yellow eyes, there are dry jujube trees and some dead leaves. Seeing a mountain ridge without grass makes one sad. Under the sunshine, the yellow land gradually reveals its layers. In the shadow, the earthy yellow is very strong, and on the other side, the criss-crossing loess embodies his connotation. Occasionally a few golden leaves glisten and sway in the darkness at the foot of the mountain, you will feel that you have found hope, and the yellow land has life. Jiang Kun’s watercolor work “Slow Autumn Colors” was completed here.
In the morning, Jiang Caikun was stunned by the scenery outside the window. Looking around, the morning glow reflects Helan Mountain. Jiang Kun forgot to wash his face and mouth, picked up a brush, and recorded this fleeting moment. Jiang Kun made some adjustments to the setting of this painting. The second mountain in the picture was originally the red color after the first mountain. In order to emphasize the red effect of the near mountain, the second mountain is processed into a gray-black mountain, making the near mountain redder and more prominent. On the tip of the pen, the line and surface are combined to complement each other and the style is unified.
Walking into Helan Mountain, there are ancient relics everywhere on the roadside cliffs and boulder rocks – petroglyphs. In these petroglyphs, there are animals, people and hunting scenes. Looking at these pictures, the life scenes of the ancestors’ slash-and-burn farming came to mind again. Due to the change of the earth’s crust, the mountains here have strange shapes, some places are regular, and some places are uneven. What method can be used to express the characteristics of Helan Mountain? Jiang Caikun tried to adopt the expression form of traditional Chinese painting lines, and then colored with the class. Finally, he completed the first and second pictures of Helan Mountain.
Chernyshevsky said, “Those who are tortured by life and are tired of interacting with people will love nature twice as much.” They both love the poetry of the landscape and the beauty of nature. They are a group of persistent pursuers, they know the value and meaning of life endowed by nature best. It is people like Jiang Caikun who deeply long for comfort and relief in the interaction with nature. In the face of many unsatisfactory ups and downs and twists and turns, landscape painting has become the harbor of their hearts, and also the courage and strength in his life.
After studying at Tsinghua University, when Jiang Caikun painted landscape paintings, he no longer paid attention to whether the objects reflected in the picture were specific, but paid more attention to the objects’ feelings about their shape, color, and general atmosphere, and then thought about how to Performance, finally got his wish. The sky in Daocheng, the fisherman, where to go in Nanshan, dating in the border town, the joy of life, the tree as a matchmaker, the secluded Liujiang River, the immortal residence, dependence, the morning of Xindu Bridge, alpine well, red gouache
Beauty mainly starts with the expression of interest, artistic conception, connotation and color, and special water flavor of gouache. The transparency, lightness, dripping and other magical artistic effects of gouache. , has attracted many artists to explore and research throughout their lives. What kind of mood and feelings make gouache painter Cai KunheNature has an “eternal promise”? The day before yesterday, I had a long talk with Cai Kun about painting. He said with great emotion: In Aden, people worship the holy mountain, just like Buddha, and there is a custom of changing mountains. As long as they worship the holy mountain three times, they will be safe and sound in this life, and there will be no disasters and difficulties. The mountain people here are so harmonious with nature. Whenever I see them walking down from the holy mountain with that solemn expression, I feel revered and sacred, coming to the holy mountain. The mountains are still, the trees are still, and the water is also still. Only the clouds keep rising. My heart is like that cloud, constantly approaching the mountains, trees, and water, or I feel still, as if I heard the roaring in the heart of the mountain, the creaking of tree roots stretching into the distance, and the chirping of fish in the water. Ah, Holy Mountain, you are holy, because you have a personality and emotions that are elusive to people, and only those who can communicate with you can understand you. I like mountains and nature. Whenever I am confused, when I am close to the mountains, I will suddenly see the light. It can purify my soul and brush away the dust of vanity in the world. Going out to sketch every year has become the norm in my life. Dialogue with mountains and flowing water is an eternal agreement between me and nature.
Jiang Kun has always maintained a childlike innocence, and painting has become one of his needs in life. Picking up the paintbrush is like a boat sailing into the harbor of the soul. Everything outside is blocked. Jiang Kun’s deepest impression is his calmness, which makes him look a little dull. Once you start discussing painting, traditional culture, cultural differences between East and West, art and market with him, he becomes lively, full of energy, and talks like a joke.
The conversation between me and Jiang Caikun ended in a busy state. It was almost midnight when we said goodbye to him. He still has unfinished business tomorrow, and he will continue to practice and “walk” on the road of “eternal agreement” with nature. He uses a large number of different faces to tell the story of “eternal unity” with nature, without superfluous tricks or pretentiousness. Sticking to one’s own choice with a spirit of martyrdom also shows the eternal charm of nature.
