01 A wrong omission, I was infected with AIDS at the age of 19
I have been doing well in my studies since I was a child, but I always feel that I am different from other boys. After I went to college, my classmates talked about love one after another, and my girlfriends changed one after another, but I was the only one who was still single.
Later, at a club gathering, I met Ah Hao who was a year older than me. I met Ah Hao late, and he told me that same-sex love is also understandable. Not long after, he and I formalized our relationship. On New Year’s Day that year, we traveled to Hangzhou together, and something that shouldn’t have happened…
The reason why I said “shouldn’t happen” is because I trusted him too much, and I agreed to his request “don’t use condoms”. And shortly thereafter, I was found to be HIV positive.
02 I’m scared, I don’t know when the end will come
When the result came out, I had mixed feelings in my heart. Although I have reasons to complain about Ah Hao, but most of the time, I hate myself.
I hate myself for being so impulsive, why I didn’t take safety measures, and even why my sexual orientation is “abnormal”…
During that time, whenever I went out to the hospital to get medicine, I would cover myself tightly for fear of being recognized by others. I couldn’t sleep at night and suffered from severe insomnia and anxiety. Several times, I wanted to jump off the balcony of the dormitory, but when I thought of my parents at home, I became timid.
After completely accepting the reality, I figured it out: at least I won’t die of AIDS immediately. The doctor in charge told me that many people with AIDS can live for a long time, as long as the treatment is serious, there is no problem at all.
Later, I joined the love working group and became a member of the volunteers. After saying goodbye to the previous relationship, I have a new lover, a new life, and a new mentality. I have already figured out how to go in the future.
1. The scary thing is not AIDS, but ignorance. The topic of “sex” has always been a sensitive area for Chinese people. Because most people in China did not receive complete sex education when they were teenagers, they have been infected with infectious diseases such as AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. Incidents happen frequently.
According to statistics, there are currently 38 million HIV-infected people in the world.Since AIDS was discovered in 1981, it has claimed the lives of 40 million people. Today, AIDS has extended its “black hand” to young people.
Data show that in 2019, every 100 seconds around the world, a young person under the age of 20 will be infected with AIDS. According to statistics from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, about 3,000 young students aged 18-22 are affected by HIV every year in my country, especially college students. More than 95% of newly infected people are infected through sexual transmission.
In the final analysis, it is the lack of correct guidance for young people to know about sex, and the family, school and society have not given correct prevention and control knowledge. Therefore, the root cause of the trend of younger HIV infection is the lack of sex education. Some experts said that there is currently no vaccine to prevent AIDS, but sex education will be the best “vaccine”.
2. The simplest and most effective prevention method: condoms There are three main ways of HIV transmission. The first is sexual contact. HIV can be transmitted between the same sex or the opposite sex through the exchange of bodily fluids. The more sexual partners you have, the greater your risk of HIV infection.
The second is blood transmission, sharing syringes for intravenous drug use, transfusing contaminated blood and blood products, or unsterilized medical equipment, all of which may cause HIV infection. The third is mother-to-child transmission. Women infected with HIV will transmit the virus to their babies through mother-to-child contact such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, and childbirth.
Among the three transmission methods of AIDS, sexual contact is the most common. When having sex, using condoms correctly is the simplest and crudest way to prevent AIDS.
In the eyes of many people, the function of condoms is only to prevent pregnancy, but it is not the case. Apart from contraception, condoms are effective in preventing the spread of bacteria and viruses. Epidemiological data show that insisting on using condoms every time you have sex can reduce the risk of HIV infection by more than 90%.
Someone questioned: HIV is so small, can it penetrate condoms and cause infection?
Generally, such accidents do not happen. Condoms act as physical barriers and, when used correctly, can stop the transmission of HIV from one person to another. Can HIV pass through the gaps in the condom?Depends on the outflow of body fluids and whether the sleeve is damaged. As long as the sleeve is intact, body fluids have not flowed out, and are “surrounded” in the sleeve, the chance of infection is very small.
Third, there is no need to talk about sex changes, teach children to use condoms correctly! Many instances of contraceptive failure and prevention failure are due to incorrect use of condoms.
In Chinese educational concepts, it is indecent to talk about words such as “sex” and “condom” to young children. However, everyone has normal physiological needs. Children will not stay in the ivory tower forever. When they grow up, they will get rid of the shackles of their parents and face the world independently. Therefore, it is necessary to popularize sex education safety knowledge to children at the right time.
On the one hand, help children establish a correct concept of sex, on the other hand, it can also teach children how to protect themselves.
So, how to use a condom is the right way?
First, buy condoms from regular places, and don’t buy “three no products” and “expired products”.
Second, when opening the condom, avoid being scratched by sharp objects and causing damage. Squeeze air out of top pouch before use.
Third, in order to avoid damage, only wear one at a time. If it breaks in the middle, replace it as soon as possible, and do not continue to use it.
Fourth, it should be worn correctly before the start of sexual behavior, and should not be removed during the process, and should be removed as soon as possible afterwards to avoid leakage of liquid.
The “invasion” of AIDS on young people is closely related to the lack of correct sexual concepts and safety awareness. “Sex” has never been a difficult topic to talk about. Learning and receiving sex education in time plays an important role in establishing a correct concept of sex and preventing sexually transmitted diseases.
